Yes, water is truly the best thing a person could ever drink, but bottled water is not the best way to do it. In fact, drinking bottled water is a bad idea. Bottled Water is Usually Just Tap Water

That's right. Bottled water, most of the time, is simply tap water from whatever municipality the bottling company is located in. Sometimes it's purified and filtered; sometimes it's not.

Why would a person want to spend a dollar or two on water that comes straight out of the faucet? At the very least, when a person pours water out of his own tap, he usually knows what's in his city's water, and he can filter it before drinking it. But there are no labels on bottled water that report to consumers what is in the city water poured into a bottle.

Bottled Water Harms the Environment

Here's a frightening fact: 2.5 million plastic bottles are thrown away every hour in the United States. Yes, 2.5 million an hour. Imagine how that amount contributes to swelling landfills as well as the ever-growing plastic vortex in the Pacific Ocean.

Drinking water in one's kitchen from a cup produces little waste in regard to the environment. But if a person consumed all her daily water from bottles, imagine how quickly that would add up. Bottled water is bad for the planet.

Drinking Bottled Water Exposes Consumers to Harmful Chemical

No, that chemical doesn't come from the water; it comes from the plastic. Many plastic bottles contain the chemical bisphenol A, also known as BPA, which can leach into the water in the bottle.

Why is this a problem? Studies indicate that BPA exposure is toxic and exposure can cause myriad health problems and can wreak havoc on hormone levels. The FDA is, in typical fashion, moving slowly on the issue, so it is up to consumers to keep themselves safe.

Buying Bottled Water Puts More Money into the Pockets of Big Business

Do people really want to hand over their primary drinking source to big business? It's one thing when a company supplies a product and then tries to convince consumers they have a need for it; it's another thing when they take a real need out of people's hands.

According to the National Resources Defense Council (NRDC), Americans spend approximately 4 billion dollars a year on bottled water. That money goes into the pockets of the very companies that also try to hook people on soft drinks containing caffeine, sugar, and other potentially harmful additives.

But What About Healthful Bottled Water?

Forget "healthy" bottled water. It's a fallacy. John Robbins reports that many of these so-called healthful bottled waters, ones that are marketed as containing vitamin, mineral, and herbal supplements, are nothing more than "sugar-water."

As with any product, a consumer would do best to read the labels of these kinds of products. When a water product contains sugar, how healthy can it be for a person? It's not, no matter how it's hyped.

(NaturalNews) A recent study published in the journal Human Reproduction has found that exposure to high levels of bisphenol A (BPA) is causing various reproductive and sexual problems in men. Funded by the federal government, the study revealed that BPA is detected in the urine of roughly 93% of the U.S. population, a staggering figure when considering the immense harm the chemical inflicts on the body.

A compound that is found in thousands of everyday consumer products from canned food linings and plastic drinking bottles to composite dental fillings, BPA is a difficult toxin to avoid. Despite efforts by some manufacturers of reusable drinking containers, of baby bottles, and of certain health-food products to remove BPA from their products, a great majority of packaged food on the market today is exposed to plastics containing BPA.

Study findings revealed that Chinese males exposed to BPA in their workplaces were four times as likely to suffer from erectile dysfunction and seven times as likely to suffer with proper ejaculation compared to workers who worked in facilities where there was no BPA in the facility. De-Kun Li, a scientist at the Kaiser Foundation Research Institute where the study was conducted, found that sexual dysfunction began to occur only months after new workers were exposed to BPA in the workplace.

The five-year study concluded that BPA, a synthetic form of estrogen that was created in the 1930s, definitively alters the hormonal balance in the human body. Since the study analyzed BPA effects on human beings rather than laboratory animals as has typically been done, BPA apologists can no longer dismiss the serious harm BPA inflicts on human hormonal balance and proper sexual function.

Consumer Reports recently issued its own report that found BPA in cans labeled both "organic" and "BPA-free". The group tested many food products and reported its findings to consumers concerned about BPA contamination of food.

The Food and Drug Administration continues to insist BPA is safe, despite outcry from scientists and consumers who object to the flimsy studies used as the foundation for the consumer protection group's support of the toxic chemical. The American Chemistry Council, a trade association for BPA makers, provided funding for the two studies that were used, a glaring conflict of interest.

Recently, the FDA has allegedly been performing further research into the long-term effects of BPA and is expected to release study findings in response to its prior failure to perform an honest assessment of BPA safety. Federal guidelines on safe upper limits of BPA exposure are based on outdated experiments conducted back in the 1980s, even though newer studies indicate that BPA poses serious threats at much lower levels than the 30 microgram (mcg) limit currently recommended.

Producers and manufacturers of food packaging must be urged to cease the use of BPA in their products due to questionable safety, even at very low levels. The FDA must also be pressed to do the right thing and outlaw BPA from food packaging.

(NaturalNews) A product survey conducted by The Independent found that the toxic chemical bisphenol-A (BPA) is used in 18 on the 20 top-selling canned food products in the United Kingdom.

BPA is one of the most widely produced chemicals in the world. It is used to harden plastic in everything from infant and water bottles to mobile phone and computer casings, and also to make linings for cans of food, beverages and infant formula. Yet a growing body of research has implicated the chemical as an endocrine (hormone) disruptor that can lead to cancer, birth defects, behavioral problems and other diseases.

The FDA recently reversed its position on the safety of BPA, acknowledging concern over the chemical's effects on the development and brains of infants and young children. This move sparked a new, still-ongoing review of the chemical's safety by the European Food Safety Authority. The British Food Standards Agency still maintains that BPA poses no health risks.

The Independent surveyed manufacturers General Mills, Heinz, Spam, Asda, Baxters, John West, Princes, Premier Foods, Sainsburys and Tesco about the use of BPA in the liners of several of their canned food products. Together, the 20 products represented account for £921 million ($1.4 billion) in sales, or 43 percent of the total for all canned food sold in the United Kingdom.

Every manufacturer sold at least one product lined with BPA. The only cans not lined with the chemical were those containing Tesco canned fruit and Tesco Value tomato products. Yet Tesco and Tesco Value canned fish both came in cans lined with BPA.

Other top-selling products in BPA-lined cans included soups, baked beans, corned beef, canned pies, chopped ham, long spaghetti and Green Giant Niblets.

Claire Dimmer of Breast Cancer UK called for manufacturers to clearly label all cans that are lined with BPA.

"Otherwise it's impossible for us to make a decision on ways of limiting our and our families' exposure to this chemical," she said.

Lie #1) Vaccines make you healthy

Vaccines have emerged as the greatest and most insidious mythology yet fabricated by western medicine. The big push by Big Pharma is now focused on treating healthy people with drugs as if pharmaceuticals were nutrients that could somehow prevent disease. This is the new push with cholesterol drugs: Give 'em to everyone, whether they have high cholesterol or not!

But pharmaceuticals don't prevent disease, and medications are not vitamins. Your body has no biological need for any pharmaceuticals at all. Lie #3) Doctors are experts in health

Lie #5) Disease is a matter of bad luck or bad genes

Western medicine wants you to believe in the mythology of spontaneous disease -- disease that strikes without cause. This is equivalent to saying that disease is some sort of voodoo black magic and that patients have no way to prevent disease through their own diets or lifestyle choices.

It's funny, actually: Western medicine claims to be driven by scientific, rational thinking, and yet the entire industry still fails to acknowledge that chronic disease always has a cause and that most of the time, that cause has everything to do with nutritional deficiencies, exposure to toxic chemicals and a lack of exercise.

Disease is almost never a matter of bad luck or bad genes.

Lie #6) Screening equals prevention

Western medicine doesn't believe in disease prevention. Rather, the industry believes in screening while calling it prevention. But screening isn't prevention by even the wildest stretch of the imagination. In fact, virtually all the popular screening methodologies actually promote diseases.

Lie #7) Health insurance will keep you healthy

This is a favorite lie of those who recently pushed for the Big Pharma-sponsored health care reform that has swept across America. The lie supposes that merely having health insurance will provide some sort of magical protection against disease. But in reality, health insurance doesn't make you healthy! It is only YOU and your choices about foods, exposures to toxic chemicals, pursuit of exercise and time in nature that can make you healthy.

Health insurance is, in effect, a wager that you will get sick. How does gambling on your sickness provide any protection whatsoever for your health? It doesn't. Personally, I'd rather bet on health than sickness, and the way to do that is to invest in nutritional supplements, organic produce, superfoods, physical fitness and non-toxic personal care products.

Lie #8) Hospitals are places of health and healing

If you want to stay healthy or get healthy, a hospital is the very last place you want to find yourself: They are unhappy, unhealthy places that are infested with antibiotic-resistant superbugs. Hospitals usually serve disease-promoting foods and lack health-enhancing sunlight, and potentially deadly mistakes with pharmaceuticals or surgical procedures now appear to be frighteningly common in U.S. hospitals.

Certainly, emergency rooms in hospitals play an important role in urgent care for injuries and accidents -- and emergency room physicians do an amazing job saving lives -- but for people with chronic, degenerative disease, a hospital is a very dangerous place to be. Unless you really need immediate critical care, try to avoid hospitals.

Lie #9) Conventional medicine is "advanced" state-of-the-art medicine

Even though doctors and health authorities try to pass off western medicine as being "advanced" or "modern," the whole system is actually pathetically outdated and stuck in the germ theory of disease. Western medicine has yet to even acknowledge the role of nutrition in preventing disease -- something that has been scientifically documented for at least the last several decades. Western medicine fails to acknowledge mind-body medicine and hilariously believes the mind plays virtually no role in healing.

Seriously: Conventional doctors still believe that dead food is exactly the same as living food! (And the USDA food pyramid still makes no distinction between the two...)

"Modern" medicine isn't so modern, it turns out. It is, in fact, hopelessly outdated and desperately needs to upgrade its approach to health and wellness if it hopes to survive the next hundred years.

Lie #10) More research is needed to find "cures"

This lie is especially hilarious because western medicine does not believe in any "cure" for any disease. They aren't even looking for cures! This lie has been repeated since the 1960's, when cancer scientists claimed they were only a few years away from curing cancer. Today, four decades later, can you think of a single major disease that western medicine has cured? There aren't any.

That's because drug companies make money from sick people, not cured people. A patient cured is a patient lost. It is far more profitable to keep patients sick and pretend to "manage" their disease through a lifetime of pharmaceuticals. So when drug companies and disease non-profits claim to be searching for a "cure," what they're really doing is taking your money to fund more drug research to patent more medications that don't actually cure anything.

Remember this the next time you're asked to donate to some search for "the cure." The cures already exist in nutrition, herbal remedies and naturopathic medicine, but Big Pharma and the conventional medicine cartel isn't interested in real cures -- they only want to promote the idea of a cure while pumping patients full of drugs that don't cure anything.

Beyond the ten lies

When it comes to western health care, there are more than 10 lies, of course, but these big 10 lies are perhaps the most relevant to your own health decisions. By avoiding being suckered in by these lies, you can take charge of your own health and avoid the health care scam by staying healthy!

Staying healthy isn't as difficult as you think, and it doesn't require health insurance or disease screening. It only requires making informed, intelligent decisions about what to eat, what to put on your skin and how to get more sunshine and physical exercise. (NaturalNews) A stunning new report reveals that top scientists who convinced the World Health Organization (WHO) to declare H1N1 a global pandemic held close financial ties to the drug companies that profited from the sale of those vaccines. This report, published in the British Medical Journal, exposes the hidden ties that drove WHO to declare a pandemic, resulting in billions of dollars in profits for vaccine manufacturers.

Several key advisors who urged WHO to declare a pandemic received direct financial compensation from the very same vaccine manufacturers who received a windfall of profits from the pandemic announcement. During all this, WHO refused to disclose any conflicts of interests between its top advisors and the drug companies who would financially benefit from its decisions.

All the kickbacks, in other words, were swept under the table and kept silent, and WHO somehow didn't think it was important to let the world know that it was receiving policy advice from individuals who stood to make millions of dollars when a pandemic was declared.

WHO credibility destroyed

The report was authored by Deborah Cohen (BMJ features editor), and Philip Carter, a journalist who works for the Bureau of Investigative Journalism in London. In their report, Cohen states, "...our investigation has revealed damaging issues. If these are not addressed, H1N1 may yet claim its biggest victim -- the credibility of the WHO and the trust in the global public health system."

In response to the report, WHO secretary-general Dr Margaret Chan defended the secrecy, saying that WHO intentionally kept the financial ties a secret in order to "...protect the integrity and independence of the members while doing this critical work... [and] also to ensure transparency."

Dr Chan apparently does not understand the meaning of the word "transparency." Then again, WHO has always twisted reality in order to serve its corporate masters, the pharmaceutical giants who profit from disease. To say that they are keeping the financial ties a secret in order to "protect the integrity" of the members is like saying we're all serving alcohol at tonight's AA meeting in order to keep everybody off the bottle.

It just flat out makes no sense.

But since when did making sense have anything to do with WHO's decision process anyway?

Even Fiona Godlee, editor of the BMJ, had harsh words for the WHO, saying, "...its credibility has been badly damaged. WHO must act now to restore its credibility."

Yet more criticism for WHO

The BMJ isn't the only medical publication criticizing WHO for its poor handling of conflicts of interest. Another report from the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly also criticized WHO, saying: "Parliamentary Assembly is alarmed about the way in which the H1N1 influenza pandemic has been handled, not only by the World Health Organization (WHO), but also by the competent health authorities at the level of the European Union and at national level." It went on to explain that WHO's actions led to "a waste of large sums of public money, and also unjustified scares and fears about health risks faced by the European public at large."

The funny thing is, NaturalNews and other natural health advocates told you all the same thing a year ago, and we didn't have to spend millions of dollars on a study to arrive at this conclusion. It was obvious to anyone who knows just how corrupt the sick-care industry really is. They'll do practically anything to make more money, including bribing WHO scientific advisors and paying them kickbacks once the vaccine sales surge.

The vaccine industry and all its drug pushers are, of course, criticizing this investigative report. They say WHO "had no choice" but to declare a pandemic and recommend vaccines, since vaccines are the only treatment option for influenza. That's a lie, of course: Vitamin D has been scientifically proven to be five times more effective than vaccines at preventing influenza infections, but WHO never recommended vitamin D to anyone.

The entire focus was on pushing more high-profit vaccines, not recommending the things that would actually help people the most. And now we know why: The more vulnerable people were to the pandemic, the more would be killed by H1N1, thereby "proving" the importance of vaccination programs.

People were kept ignorant of natural remedies, in other words, to make sure more people died and a more urgent call for mass vaccination programs could be carried out. (A few lives never gets in the way of Big Pharma profits, does it?)

How the scam really worked

Here's a summary of how the WHO vaccine scam worked:

Step 1) Exaggerate the risk: WHO hypes up the pandemic risk by declaring a phase 6 pandemic even when the mortality rate of the virus was so low that it could be halted with simple vitamin D supplements.

Step 2) Urge countries to stockpile: WHO urged nations around the world to stockpile H1N1 vaccines, calling it a "public health emergency."

Step 3) Collect the cash: Countries spend billions of dollars buying and stockpiling H1N1 vaccines while Big Pharma pockets the cash.

Step 4) Get your kickbacks: WHO advisors, meanwhile, collected their kickbacks from the vaccine manufacturers. Those kickbacks were intentionally kept secret.

Step 5) Keep people afraid: In order to keep demand for the vaccines as high as possible, WHO continued to flame the fears by warning that H1N1 was extremely dangerous and everybody should continue to get vaccinated. (The CDC echoed the same message in the USA.)

This is how WHO pulled off one of the greatest vaccine pandemic scams in the last century, and it worked like gangbusters. WHO advisors walked away with loads of cash, the drug companies stockpiled huge profits, and the taxpayers of nations around the world were left saddled with useless vaccines rotting on the shelves that will soon have to be destroyed (at additional taxpayer cost, no doubt) or dumped down the drain (where they will contaminate the waterways).

Meanwhile, nobody dared tell the public the truth about vitamin D, thereby ensuring that the next pandemic will give them another opportunity to repeat the exact same scam (for yet more profit).

The criminality of the vaccine industry

The bottom line is all this is a frightening picture of just how pathetic the vaccine industry has become and how corrupt the WHO and the CDC really are. What took place here is called corruption and bribery, folks. Kickbacks were paid, lies were told and governments were swindled out of billions of dollars. These are felony crimes being committed by our global health leaders.

The real question is: Why do governments continue to allow public health organizations to be so easily corrupted by the vaccine industry? And who will stand up to this profit conspiracy that exploits members of the public as if they were profit-generating guinea pigs?

The next time you hear the WHO say anything, just remember: Their advisors are on the take from the drug companies, and just about anything you're likely to hear from the World Health Organization originates with a profit motive rather than a commitment to public health.

Oh, and by the way... for the record, there has never been a single scientific study ever published showing that H1N1 vaccines worked. Not only was the H1N1 pandemic a fraud to begin with, but the medicine they claimed treated it was also based on fraud. And now we know the rest of the story of why it was all done: Kickbacks from Big Pharma, paid to advisors who told WHO to declare a pandemic.

(NaturalNews) A product survey conducted by The Independent found that the toxic chemical bisphenol-A (BPA) is used in 18 on the 20 top-selling canned food products in the United Kingdom.

BPA is one of the most widely produced chemicals in the world. It is used to harden plastic in everything from infant and water bottles to mobile phone and computer casings, and also to make linings for cans of food, beverages and infant formula. Yet a growing body of research has implicated the chemical as an endocrine (hormone) disruptor that can lead to cancer, birth defects, behavioral problems and other diseases.

The FDA recently reversed its position on the safety of BPA, acknowledging concern over the chemical's effects on the development and brains of infants and young children. This move sparked a new, still-ongoing review of the chemical's safety by the European Food Safety Authority. The British Food Standards Agency still maintains that BPA poses no health risks.

The Independent surveyed manufacturers General Mills, Heinz, Spam, Asda, Baxters, John West, Princes, Premier Foods, Sainsburys and Tesco about the use of BPA in the liners of several of their canned food products. Together, the 20 products represented account for £921 million ($1.4 billion) in sales, or 43 percent of the total for all canned food sold in the United Kingdom.

Every manufacturer sold at least one product lined with BPA. The only cans not lined with the chemical were those containing Tesco canned fruit and Tesco Value tomato products. Yet Tesco and Tesco Value canned fish both came in cans lined with BPA.

Other top-selling products in BPA-lined cans included soups, baked beans, corned beef, canned pies, chopped ham, long spaghetti and Green Giant Niblets.

Claire Dimmer of Breast Cancer UK called for manufacturers to clearly label all cans that are lined with BPA.

"Otherwise it's impossible for us to make a decision on ways of limiting our and our families' exposure to this chemical," she said.

Zafrani Pulao

Ingredients450 gm (2 cups) basmati rice
1 medium onion
2 tablespoons ghee
1/2 teaspoon black cumin seeds
1 inch stick cinnamon
1-2 black cardamoms
2-3 cloves
bay leaf
saffron strands
50 gm (1/2 cup) slivered almonds
25 gm green raisins or sultanas
about 750 ml (3 cups) water
1 teaspoon salt

Method
  • Soak saffron in one tablespoon of warm water for 30 minutes.
  • Meanwhile rinse rice and soak in fresh water for 30 minutes in a pan.
  • Heat ghee in a heavy saucepan. Slice onion thin and add onion and all the spices except saffron to the hot ghee. Stir-fry until the onion turns golden brown.
  • Add almonds, raisins and well-drained rice and stir-fry for a further 5 minutes.
  • Pour water into the rice, It should be just the right quantity - one inch above the rice level.
  • Add the salt and saffron, stir well and bring to the boil.
  • Reduce heat, cover the pan tightly and cook on slow fire for about 20 minutes until the rice is tender and fluffy and the water is absorbed. Fluff up the rice with a fork and serve immediately.

 • 4 lb Celery root, peeled and coarsely chopped • 3 lb Russet potatoes, (preferable Idaho), peeled and coarsely chopped • 1 cup Heavy cream • 1 stk , (1/2 cup) butter • 1/2 tsp Baby Brand Saffron • 2 x Garlic cloves, finely minced • 2 1/2 cup Gruyere, coarsely grated Salt and pepper to taste • 1/2 cup Coarsely chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley 
   
 Preparation 
   
 
  • Preheat oven to 400 F.
  • Place the celery root and the potatoes in separate large saucepans with enough salted water to cover.
  • Bring to a boil and cook until soft. Strain both the celery and the potatoes and set aside.
  • In a heavy saucepan bring the cream to a boil over moderately high heat, and add the butter, Baby Brand Saffron and garlic. Reduce the heat to moderately low, and cook about 5 minutes, or until the cream mixture is bright yellow.
  • Puree the celery root in a food processor, gradually adding the cream mixture. Set aside. Place the potatoes in a bowl and mash until you have a rough texture. Add the celery root mixture to the potatoes, and add 1 cup of the Gruyere. Mix together with a wooden spoon and season generously with salt and pepper.
  • Butter a 13 x 9" ovenproof dish (about 10-cup capacity). If you prefer to serve individual portions, you could use instead eight #4-size ramekins
    (each one has a 1 1/4 cup capacity). Place the celery root-potato mixture in the large, ovenproof dish or in the individual ramekins.
  • Sprinkle the top with the parsley and the remaining Gruyere. Bake in oven for about 15 minutes, or until the casserole is heated through and the top is golden brown.

 • 1 3/4 lb medium artichokes • (or 2 1/4 lbs baby artichokes) • 1 tbl minced garlic • 1 dsh red pepper flakes • 1 dsh Baby Brand Saffron • 1/2 tsp orange zest • 1/2 tsp salt • 1/4 cup olive oil • 1/2 cup water • 1 tbl orange juice • 2 tbl chopped black olives • 1 tbl slivered almonds • 1 tbl minced parsley 
   
 Preparation 
   
 
  • Trim the artichokes. If using mediums, quarter them lengthwise. Place them in a bowl of acidulated water (water with a little vinegar, lemon or lime juice) to prevent discoloration. Drain.
  • Cook the artichokes, garlic, red pepper flakes, Baby Brand Saffron, orange zest, salt, olive oil and water over medium heat in a large, covered skillet until the artichokes are tender, about 15 minutes. Shake the pan from time to time to stir the contents. If necessary, add a little more water to keep the bottom covered.
  • When the artichokes are easily pierced with a knife, remove the lid and raise the heat to high. Cook, stirring, until only a thin coating of liquid remains on the bottom of the pan, about 3 minutes.
  • Add the orange juice, olives, almonds and parsley, and cook, stirring, just until they are heated through. Serve warm.
  • This recipe yields 4 side dish or 2 main dish servings.

  • Cut off the stems of the artichokes with a stainless-steel knife, break off the tough outer leaves, and cut off the top fourth of each artichoke.
  • Snip off the tips of the remaining artichoke leaves with scissors and rub the cut edges with the lemon half. Arrange the artichokes upright in a microwave-safe dish, add 1 inch water and the garlic, and cover the dish tightly with microwave-safe plastic wrap. Microwave the artichokes at high power (100%) for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the bases are tender.
  • While the artichokes are cooking, in a blender blend together 3 tablespoons warm water, the vinegar, the oregano, the Baby Brand Saffron, the sugar, and the oil.Transfer the cooked artichokes to 2 plates. Peel the garlic, in the blender puree it with the vinegar mixture until the mixture

  • Snap off the tough ends from the asparagus spears. Cut the spears in half lengthwise (thicker spears should be quartered), then slice them on the bias into 1-inch pieces.
  • Steam the asparagus until crisp-tender, about 2 minutes.
  • Set the cooked asparagus aside.
  • Set a large skillet over medium heat. When the pan is hot, add the Baby Brand Powdered Saffron and toast for a minute.
  • Add the oil to the pan and heat briefly Add the onion and saute until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  • Stir in the peas, orange zest, and salt and cook until the peas are tender, about 2 minutes.

 • 4 1/2 cup Vegetable or chicken broth - (to 5 cups) • 1/4 tsp Crumbled Baby Brand Saffron threads • 1/3 cup Shelled pistachios or pine nuts • 3 1/2 lb Asparagus • 2 med Onions chopped fine • 1/2 stk Butter • 1 1/2 cup Cubed potatoes - (1/2" cubes) • 1/2 cup Dry white wine • 1/2 cup Fresh flat-leaf parsley leaves - (packed) • Salt to taste • Freshly-ground black pepper to taste

  • In a small saucepan bring 1/2 cup broth to a boil and remove pan from heat. Stir Baby Brand Saffron into hot broth and steep, stirring occasionally, 15 minutes.
  • In a dry heavy skillet toast nuts over moderate heat, stirring, until fragrant. Chop nuts.
  • Trim asparagus and cut into 2-inch pieces, reserving tips separately. Have ready a large bowl of ice water. In a large saucepan of boiling salted water blanch tips 2 minutes, or until crisp tender, and transfer with a slotted spoon to ice water to stop cooking. Drain tips well and pat dry.
  • In a 4-quart kettle, cook the onion in the butter until golden. Add the asparagus pieces and cook for 3 more minutes.
  • Stir in the potatoes, Baby Brand Saffron infusion, 4 cups broth, and wine and simmer, covered until vegetables are very tender but not falling apart, about 20 minutes.
  • In a blender or food processor puree mixture in batches until smooth (use caution when blending hot liquids).
  • In kettle stir together puree and enough of remaining broth to reach desired consistency.
  • Add half of asparagus tips and bring soup to a simmer.
  • While soup is heating, chop parsley.
  • Season soup with pepper and salt.
  • Ladle soup into bowls and top with remaining asparagus tips, nuts, and parsley.

 • 12 x Indian aubergines - (abt 2 lbs) • Water • 1 tbl ground coriander • 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper • 1 1/2 tsp salt or less • 10 x threads Baby Brand Saffron to 12 • 1 tbl warm milk • 1/4 cup corn oil • 2 whl black cardamom pods - (to 3) • 2 stk cinnamon - (ea 1" long) • 5 whl cloves - (to 6) • 2 sm bay leaves • 5 whl black peppercorns to 6 • 1 piece ginger root - (1/2") minced 1 x onion sliced thin • 1/2 cup plain yogurt • Chopped cilantro leaves for garnish 
   
 Preparation 
   
 
  • Trim tough end of aubergine stems, leaving caps intact. Slice each aubergine from blossom end halfway to cap.
  • Soak aubergines in water to cover at least 30 minutes to open slits.
  • In small bowl, mix coriander, cayenne and 1/2 teaspoon salt. In separate small bowl, soak Baby Brand Saffron threads in warm milk.
  • Drain aubergines in colander. Working over plate, pry slits open with your fingers and spoon 1/4 teaspoon spice mixture into each aubergine, letting any excess spices fall onto plate. Push slit closed to distribute spices evenly.
  • In a 10-inch, 3- to 3-1/2-quart skillet with lid, heat oil over high heat. Add cardamom pods, cinnamon sticks, cloves, bay leaves and peppercorns and fry until they sizzle, about 1 minute. Add ginger and onion and continue to cook until onion turns translucent, 3 to 4 minutes.
  • Add aubergines and any spices remaining on plate. Fry on high heat, stirring frequently to evenly cook aubergines until their purple color takes on a brownish hue, about 3 to 4 minutes.
  • Reduce heat to low, wait 5 minutes, then stir in yogurt. (If the heat is too high, the yogurt will separate.) Add milk with Baby Brand Saffron, remaining 1 teaspoon salt and mix well, being careful not to break aubergines.
  • Cover; cook 20 to 25 minutes, stirring once or twice to allow for even cooking. Remember to allow drops of water collected on inside of lid to fall back into pan.
  • Garnish with cilantro leaves before serving.
